Linear Technology Corporation, a subsidiary of Analog Devices, Inc. (ADI), today introduced the LTC7124, a high efficiency, 4MHz synchronous dual output step-down regulator, using a constant frequency, peak current mode Architecture. The LTC7124 integrates an optional spread spectrum frequency modulation feature to reduce radiated and conducted EMI noise. The device uses a compact package with a footprint of 3mm x 5mm, providing up to 3.5A continuous output current per channel, or a single-phase output of up to 7A. The switching frequency is user programmable in the 500kHz to 4MHz range, allowing the use of slim, low cost capacitors and inductors, which also provides external clock synchronization for noise sensitive applications. The LTC7124 operates from a 3.1V to 17V input voltage range with an output voltage range of 0.6V to 99% of VIN with a high ± 1% VOUT accuracy and is well suited for 1 to 4 lithium-ion battery applications and 5V and 12V Intermediate bus system. Other key applications include battery-powered systems, point-of-load power supplies, portable instruments and handheld scanners.

Each channel of the LTC7124 uses RDS (ON) only 80mΩ and 40mΩ internal N-channel MOSFET switches to provide up to 95% efficiency. The two channels operate in reverse phase at 180 degrees, thus minimizing the input and output capacitor sizes. User-selectable Burst Mode® operation maximizes efficiency at light loads, requiring only 8μA quiescent current when both channels are enabled, and only 5.5μA quiescent current for one channel enable. For applications requiring the lowest noise, the LTC7124 can be configured to operate in forced continuous mode, reducing output voltage ripple and potential RF interference. Other features include input overvoltage and overtemperature protection, power good voltage monitor, independent soft start function for each channel, internal or external loop compensation, programmable current limit and short circuit protection. For example: how to test ds18b20 and how to flash nrf51822 .

The LTC7124 is available in a heat-resistant, enhanced 3mm x 5mm QFN-24 package. Class E and Class I versions are guaranteed to operate over a -40 ° C to 125 ° C operating junction temperature range. If you want to learn more information, please go to componentschip.com.
